This recipe is ... SUCH. A. CHEAT. CODE.
I get it. I'm super busy too and don't have time to make a mushroom frittata every day of the week.
Some days I need to blend some shit up, indulge in something chocolatey, and feel good about myself.
This superfood smoothie is full of compounds that fight off free radicals that cause aging.
According do Dr. William Lee, in one study, "participants who drank cocoa had twice as many stem cells in circulation as those who did not."
He also goes on to say that cacao can positively influence the gut microbiome and how our body metabolizes glucose. (1)
Ugh... I'll have MORE PLEASE!
Most smoothies are loaded with sugar. This smoothie is low sugar, full of antioxidants, and is so delicious.
Here is my favorite decadent coconut cacao smoothie that keeps me feeling full and.. youthful ;)
When it comes to choosing a protein powder, make sure it is from a high-quality source with no artificial sweeteners or chemicals. I used Coconut Chocolate from Just Ingredients. The protein powder is grass-fed whey along with pea, pumpkin, and chia seed proteins and includes cocoa powder that is rich in antioxidants, collagen for healthy skin and joints, and no artificial sweeteners or sugar.
12oz vanilla coconut milk
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I used Coconut Chocolate)
1 Tbsp. Cocoa powder (if you like a more chocolatey taste)
pinch sea salt
*If you need it sweeter you can add frozen banana or stevia
Directions:.... just blend until smooth and creamy!
